Looking back, I can conclude every phase of life I have passed through is not balanced at all although this does not matter the most important thing is looking at things regarding one’s lifetime and finding a way to suit your goals based on the stage of life you are at right now. To keep up with your goals when you are in the family/parent stage, here are some advice that will help
Effective Ways to Actualize Your Dreams As a Parent
Attaining balance is a very dicey situation I find it difficult to say I believe in achieving balance or to believe in attaining balance this moment rather I look at my life in stages. I will like to say that my no-family stage was the stage that gave way to the stage I am in right now.
Let your mom be your friend or find a mentor who’s way ahead of you that you can trust to guide you
Honestly, you cannot do it alone! As a young woman, I remember feeling very overwhelmed with all I wanted to accomplish and not knowing how I could do it by myself. I found my Mom as a great support as she is always there every step of the way to offer her free advice. Finding a mentor who is more secure in her achievements can be incredibly reassuring and a great source of support.
Enjoy the moment—it won’t last long
Balance is dicey. If there were a way I could have seen my life in stages, I would have been very excited. It is very okay to be a workaholic when you are not a parent because it’s the right time. As you become a mom, you can adjust your schedule so that perhaps you spent more time at home with your family because it’s the right time for that hugs. As the kids grow up, it is also okay to start new adventures. The truth is that your best years are yet to come.
Make it count
During my no-family phase, every weekend was the time to make a new hair or to make my nails but in my current stage, I don’t do this, and I don’t let it get to me. When this stage passes, it is possible I will want to visit the salon every weekend. My goal is to live life to the fullest, and hopefully, I’ll be content when it’s time to move on.
Find a role model who’s in the same phase and age bracket
Having women doing great in the same age bracket is a good way to go. See the things they are doing and chose what you can learn from them to improve yourself. Focusing on women your age will help to break the barrier (if any) in age difference when dealing with older women.
Take action and Stop complaining
As human beings, we tend to complain about our present stage than taking action. But to be honest, complaining and not taking action elongates your present situation. So it is better to take action immediately. Time waits for nobody. What is that thing you have being dreaming of starting or ending? The time to initiate the process is NOW. You can do it!
Be patient nothing happens overnight
Patient, consistency, in my opinion, is the key to accomplishing your goals. When you listen to other people’s success stories, it happened just in a moment. We see, for example, a celebrity wore pair shoes and bam!—they’re an instant hit. The brand sells out, and their website crashes. However, we don’t see the hundreds of hours it took for the designer to get to that moment.
Visualize your goals and work towards it.
Think about where you want to be at the end of each stage of your life, write it down your goals and then make a plan and start by working towards it. You must not have everything figured out, but you should be ready to make a reasonable plan and work towards it. Take it one step at a time and when you are done, with the first stage do not relax take on the next step and you are on your way to reaching your goals.
Set a time to honestly evaluate yourself
Setting a goal is one thing and accomplishing the goal is another thing. It is very crucial to monitor your progress by honestly evaluating yourself and making all the necessary adjustments where need be. So when setting a goal, also set a time to say you desire to get done with your goal in six months. Honestly. It does not hurt if you evaluate yourself every one month. When you don’t self-evaluate, you end up doing the same thing over and over and hurting your progress.
Don’t dwell in your mistakes
It’s very okay to make a mistake but please don’t dwell on your mistakes. Forgive yourself, learn from it and move on.
Be confident with your achievements
Be happy with where you are at and with whatever you have achieved no matter how little it maybe.
