How To Cure Dry Skin

When your skin becomes so dry, it becomes itchy, rough and may become scaly and appear wrinkled.The new skin cells are constantly forming the junction between the epidermis and the dermis.

These skins slowly rise to the outer skin layer.The dead skin (dry skin) are shed while new one emerge to take their place

Causes of Dry Skin

Overheated room

Frequent bathing in overheated hot water.

Exposure to soap and other harsh cleaners.

Exposure to the sun

Dry and windy climate

Hormone changes, for example, the drop in estrogen that follows menopause


Herbal Treatment

Herbalist recommends taking gamma linoleic acid GLA a fatty acid from borage oil, black currant and prime rose to help with health growth in hair, skin, and nails.Body lotions containing aloe vera helps restore skin moisture

Nutritional Treatment

Beta carotene(Precursor of vitamin A) and vitamin C, E, and D contribute to healthy skin.You can also apply a thin film of vitamin E or wheat germ oil to the skin as a moisturizer

Self -Treatment

Caring for your skin diligently is the key to healthy skin

When in sun, apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15.If the sunscreen irritates your skin, you may be sensitive to ingredients ask your dermatologist to recommend a product

In winter, use a humidifier and set the thermostat at 68 or 70F. In summer, avoid excessive use of air condition which dries the air

Use moisturizer containing urea on your face and body after each wash

Avoid astringent and skin toners except they are formulated for dry skin

Take shorter showers and moisturize your skin immediately after showering when your skin is still moist.

Exercise regularly to increase the flow of blood

If you smoke, you need to stop because smoking reduces the flow of blood in the skin
In winter, set the thermometer at 68 or 70 Farenhights (20 or 21 Centigrade)

    This is true, all the factors you listed can enhance dry skin. I don’t really have dry skin, nor completely, but patches, and I always try to avoid very hot baths! A very good post to help us! Hope you have a lovely weekend!
